Uncontested Divorce

divorce decree and wedding ring.Uncontested Georgia Divorce

Uncontested divorces may be appropriate if you and your spouse have decided to part amicably.   If you have made the joint rational decision to avoid bringing up past faults and to just focus on the future of you and your family, an uncontested divorce may be for you.  However, in addition to the standard issues of  property division, child custody and child support, there are many other issues that you and your spouse may not have contemplated.   We can help you navigate the waters of a divorce so you can begin your new life.

When Complications Are Minimal, Uncontested Divorce May Work

Even if you are not in disagreement over assets, accounts, custody, property and child support, you still need to have an experienced attorney to make sure the paperwork is drawn up and filed properly.

Experience Counts

Contact the experienced divorce lawyers at Edwards & Associates in either of our four locations to schedule an initial consultation. Learn how our attorneys can help you accomplish an uncontested divorce efficiently and cost-effectively.  Your uncontested divorce may be complete in as little as 31 days when both of you fully cooperate in finalizing the settlement agreement.  If you have no children, we can discuss your uncontested divorce over the phone without the need for a full consultation.  It is very rare for a divorce with children to be truly uncontested, and we will require a full consultation to go over your options.

Some people make the mistake of attempting to handle the divorce themselves. It is nearly impossible to get all the paperwork correct without the assistance of an experienced attorney.  In addition, most people do not consider all of the issues that are needed to resolve their case.  Some times, even if the case is finalized, problems that were not anticipated earlier crop up, and people spend more money "undoing" a bad agreement than it would have cost to do it correctly to begin with.

Fees

Our fees are $750 for an uncontested divorce without children and standard assets.  Our fees range from $1000 - $3500 for an uncontested divorce with children and/or significant assets.  You will see other attorneys uncontested divorce rates advertised for much less.  However, they often charge extra or minor revisions, or do not include the filing fee, postage, mileage or other expenses in their advertised rate.

We do not use forms to prepare your divorce.  We understand that each case is different, and we do not just plug your name into a standard form.  You want to make sure your paperwork is correct the first time.  We have seen uncontested divorces done cheaply that resulted in a vague, unenforceable agreements. Some of those unfortunate people have had to hire us and spend thousands in attorney's fees to "fix" a divorce that was not done right the first time.  Do not let that happen to you.  We have over ten years' experience in drafting divorce agreements, and we have never had an agreement overturned by a court or deemed unenforceable.  Our years of experience can help you through a contested or uncontested divorce with your family's long-term well-being front and center.   Contact us to schedule an initial consultation regarding your uncontested divorce.
